MeadWestvaco (MWV) is looking for an International Tax Manager who will work closely with the International Tax Team and outside consultants to provide MWV with innovative tax planning and compliance services. Will manage all U.S. international tax compliance and assist in the preparation of the international tax portion of MWV’s U.S. quarterly and year-end tax provision for its financial statements. The International Tax Manager position will also support U.S. and non-domestic income tax audits.


• Research and analysis of tax law and tax law changes as they may affect the company

• Research and analysis of company financial statements

• Assist in the coordination and preparation of transfer pricing documentation

• Respond to regular tax inquiries from internal employers and departments

• Review and collection of tax packages from MWV’s International Business Units for the preparation of MWV’s U.S. Tax Returns. Review of 5471’s, 8858’s and appropriate attachments for the proper filing of the U.S. Federal Income Tax Return

• Review of significant tax attributes of the Company’s international entities including E&P, tax basis, Section 987 FX exposures and tax credits

• Provide the leadership to ensure the proper levels of support for and the involvement of the business units and corporate functional areas for income tax accounting matters

• Assist with the preparation of the Company’s income tax provision and associated analytical documents related to FAS 109 and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements

• Establish strong communication channels with Corporate Controller’s Office to ensure timely and consistent tax accounting reporting

• Provide leadership, training and guidance to the International Tax team

• Ensure the accuracy of all tax related research and data


• Bachelor’s degree required, CPA and/or advanced degree a plus

• Seven to ten years of experience; preferably with a public accounting firm or a large U.S. multinational corporation. Experience with international tax issues is required

• Extensive knowledge and experience with international tax planning

• Strong verbal and written communications skills

• Detailed and analytical in nature with the ability to diligently pursue tax related issues

• High ethical standards combined with demonstrated ability to act as an ambassador of the Company

• A “Team” player with a “can do” attitude
