JOB DESCRIPTION: Financial Strategist/ Tax Advisor

Reports to: Client management team leader

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and completion of graduate coursework or equivalent in tax preferred. 5-10 years of legal, accounting, or investment experience minimum. Significant experience working with clients, ideally wealthy families. CPA required.

Responsibilities: The advisor will be part of a team responsible for advising wealthy families. This individual will be responsible for thinking strategically about how best to accomplish each family’s goals, completing special projects as they arise – or managing the team of professionals delivering excellent service. This individual will also be a primary point of contact for tax strategies.

Duties include:

  •  Work with Signature’s client management team on strategic and tactical estate and income tax planning, as well as on philanthropic initiatives, for each client family. This will include review of client tax returns to determine planning strategies, understanding of income and transfer tax consequences from various trust and partnership transactions, and year-end tax planning. Meet regularly with clients, delivering Signature’s comprehensive investment and planning expertise to client families, thus building long-term personal relationships.
  •  Prepare meeting agendas and document minutes from meetings. Ensure that all appropriate follow up is completed. Create and maintain the client dashboard and an annual calendar for each client.
  •  Think creatively, strategically and analytically, using experience with spreadsheets, planning software and basic financial concepts such as time value of money, research and complete special projects as they arise.
  •  Assist in the development of solutions as complex opportunities arise, such as tax strategies, estate structures, private aviation, yacht management, entity management, and investment management.
  •  Interact directly with client and client’s key advisors (lawyers, accountants, etc.), overseeing tactical matters and generating ideas that are more strategic in nature. Serve as first or second line of communication for client with Signature, depending on size and complexity of client relationship.
  •  Coordinate with investment department to prepare, implement and monitor asset allocations and objectives for each client.
  •  Over time, be able to explain confidently each Signature investment, the firm’s investment philosophy, and general macro-economic conditions and trends on a global basis.
