Our Engineering & Construction Consulting (ECC) practice is is part of Deloitte FAS LLP and is a market leader in delivering solutions related to transactions and business events across the capital asset lifecycle. Our clients are in asset-intensive industries such as oil and gas, power and utilities, health care, manufacturing, and the public sector.  Our ECC practice includes the following market offerings:

  • Tangible Asset Valuation & Consulting
  • Capital Projects

Tangible Asset Valuation
Our extensive experience allows us to provide clients with sophisticated analyses related to the following: cost segregation studies and construction tax planning that help clients to identify tax savings related to their fixed assets; pollution control certifications for federal tax purposes; valuing machinery and equipment for a variety of purposes including financial reporting, insurance, financing, federal tax, property tax; and assessing and improving fixed asset management processes.
Tangible Asset Valuation services include:

  • Cost Segregation
  • Fixed Asset Management
  • Insurance Appraisals
  • Financing Appraisals

Capital Projects
Our Capital Projects practice provides specialized resources to assist in our clients’ efforts to improve the delivery of capital projects and help meet their program objectives. Our team is composed of professionals with practical industry experience in nearly every aspect of the capital construction process, and with advanced degrees in engineering, architecture, business, accounting and law. We have assisted with project oversight and the resolution of complex capital construction project disputes around the world.

Professional and Technical responsibilities include:

  • Creating financial models based on business issues or transactions being analyzed
  • Assisting with drafting reports and findings including the preparation of tables, exhibits and charts
  • Interviewing property, asset and construction managers
  • Reading and analyzing technical specifications, construction drawings and construction invoices
  • Performing inspections of machinery, equipment, building and construction projects
  • Participating in the development of client presentations
  • Assisting with researching various technical and industry specific issues
  • Researching market issues and identify market opportunities
  • Demonstrating an understanding of risk associated with engagements
  • Balancing multiple engagements and responsibilities
  • Communicating effectively with all levels of engagement management
  • Developing excellent professional oral and written communication skills in order to establish working relationships with client personnel
  • Exhibiting a professional, business-like demeanor
  • Exercising professional judgment on engagements by providing proactive solutions and recommendations to your engagement manager
  • Proactively managing career- setting goals and career plans with advisory/career counselor
  • Bachelors degree required,
  • Preferred majors include Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • MBA preferred; ASA, CPA and/or CFA candidacy a plus
  • Strong Academic credentials (Minimum GPA of 3.2)
  • Relevant work experience (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage ambiguity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
  • Knowledge of construction cost and scheduling software a plus
  • Must be flexible with the potential travel requirements of client service projects
