The Tax Senior Associate is responsible for utilizing research skills, applying tax foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, gathering financial and tax information necessary for tax filings, participating in tax planning, recognizing and communicating potential risks, preparing tax accrual workpapers and working with tax software applications to complete tax returns for review. In this role, the Tax Senior Associate may be charged with supervising and reviewing the work of Tax and Accounting Department tax associates and paraprofessionals.

Prepares pro forma and consolidated federal and multi-state income tax returns.

Experienced and knowledge in using tax preparation software, such as Onesource, a plus.

Examines financial accounts and records, and computes federal, state and city tax liabilities according to prescribed rates, laws and regulations.

Prepares tax returns; raises potential tax issues, manages assigned projects by planning the tax process and the procedures to be performed with quality.

Calculates estimated and extension tax payments.

Represents the company before various state taxing authorities; assists with federal and state tax examinations and prepares schedules in response to information document requests and performs appropriate research in preparation for tax audits.

Researches and analyzes tax laws, regulations and administrative guidance that may impact company tax compliance obligations.

Reconciles various tax accounts related to the tax provision under ASC 740-10; identifies book-to-tax differences.

Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.

Performs related duties as assigned; meets internal deadlines for timely delivery of assigned tasks.

Established experience with evaluating book to tax differences related to fixed assets; experience and knowledge of utilizing FAS software to compute tax asset depreciation reports.

Documents all significant tax positions, clearly, correctly, and in accordance with company policies and ensures that proper documentation is archived within the applicable tax files.

Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of the company, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits. May be required to prepare studies of tax implications and offer management suggestions of alternative courses of action.


Software Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat.

Experience with tax research databases such as BNA and RIA, proficient in all tax compliance process software including OneSource, FAS Depreciation Software, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting and Auditing Principles, practices and methods.

Financial audits, practices and applications.

Business and personal computer hardware and software applications.

Finance and accounting theories, principles and practices and applications.

Principles of mathematical and statistical computations.

Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.

Current Company policies, practices and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.

Skill in:

Experience with corporate taxation and consolidations.

Prior basic supervisory experience preferred

Prior experience preparing tax provisions

Implementing goals, objectives and practices for effective, efficient and cost effective management of allocated resources.

Responding to inquiries or complaints from management, subordinate employees, customers, regulatory agencies and members of the business community.

Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Reading, analyzing, interpreting and applying financial and tax authoritative publications, accounting journals, financial reports, legal documents, and federal, state and local tax related laws, codes and regulations.

Researching, analyzing and evaluating tax minimization methodologies, procedures and programs.

Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

Ensuring compliance with company policies, practices and procedures, including safety rules and
