Position Description

 

The Investment Banking Summer Analyst position at DCF offers bright, ambitious individuals a unique opportunity in a challenging industry.  Our Summer Analysts are important contributors to the firm’s activities and are encouraged to assume more responsibility than is typical at other investment banks.  Summer Analysts gain significant exposure to challenging deal-related tasks, work closely with professionals of every level, including senior partners, and interact with clients when appropriate.  Summer Analysts at DCF are involved in all aspects of analysis and presentation associated with a wide variety of transactional assignments.

DCF’s Summer Analyst position is structured as a ten-week program with the possible extension of full-time offers for outstanding performers.  As a part of the program, Summer Analysts will participate in DCF’s three week training program alongside the firm’s incoming full-time Analysts.

 

Personal and Practise Development

 

  • Analyze companies from a financial, operational, and industry perspective.

  • Build complex financial models utilizing Microsoft Excel.

  • Research industries, specific companies, and market data.

  • Conduct diligence with top management and owners of client businesses.

  • Write offering memoranda, reports, letters to clients, and engagement letters.

  • Create client proposals to obtain new engagements.

  • Balance multiple engagements and responsibilities.

  • Develop professional oral and written communication skills in order to establish working relationships with client personnel.

  • Exhibit a professional, business-like demeanor.

  • Exercise professional judgment on engagements by providing proactive solutions and recommendations.

  • Proactively manage career – set goals and career plans with advisory/career counselor.

Qualifications

 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree – Preferred majors include Finance, Accounting, and Economics.

  • Strong academic credentials (Minimum GPA of 3.4).

  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.

  • Ability to analyze companies from a financial, operational, and industry perspective.

  • Must be flexible with the potential travel requirements of client service projects.
