Job Description:
Our U.S. Financial Services (FS) Practice consists of approximately 2,300 assurance professionals, including 223 partners and 650 managers. It spans industry sectors and functional skill areas, including insurance, investment management, capital markets, banking and real estate. We serve many of the world’s largest financial institutions. This means that we have insight into the challenges facing the industry. PwC is the leader is serving large, complex financial services institutions. In the U.S., we audit:

– 18 of the top 50 life insurers, representing 39 percent of admitted assets.
– 19 of the top 50 property and casualty insurers, representing 44 percent of net premiums written.
– 11 of the top 25 reinsurers, representing 47 percent of net premiums written.
– Over 2,900 mutual funds, representing 40% of all mutual funds and 58% of total industry net assets; this includes funds at nine and the advisor and funds at six of the top ten funds families.

Position/Program Requirements:
Minimum Years of Experience: 8 years of proven success in roles involving commercial lines insurance pricing
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree with documented academic background in actuarial science, mathematics, applied statistics, financial analysis, insurance, economics, or related quantitative disciplines.

Additional information:
Demonstrated proven success in the following areas related to selling and delivering solutions related to both property and casualty insurance product pricing is also required:
– Leading sales efforts through driving new business proposals and extending the range of services currently provided to a business’ current insurance clients, emphasizing long-term relationships;
– Matching the intellectual capital within a business’ global network to the pricing challenges faced by its multinational through regional mutual insurer clients;
– Positioning an actuarial and insurance management consulting-related business as an insurance pricing leader by developing intellectual property and participating in market facing activities;
– Keeping abreast of insurance industry developments with potential impact on the pricing function; and,
– Developing internal capabilities and delivering high quality work products, and a business’ internal and external brand.

Certification(s) Preferred: Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, FCAS, or equivalent

Knowledge Preferred:
Demonstrates proven intimate knowledge of and success in roles using appropriate pricing methodologies to develop rate indications across a variety of lines of business and discussing indications with key stakeholders, which includes the following areas:
– Selecting, testing, and integrating third-party data into pricing models to improve business decision-making and managing related vendor relationships;
– Identifying and implementing optimal data segmentation for pricing studies;
– Understanding and applying classification ratemaking across a variety of lines of business;
– Assessing the need for enhanced rating plans, and success in developing and implementing solutions to meet these needs;
– Performing price monitoring analyses for various lines of business and discussing results with key stakeholders;
– Developing documentation required for rate filings and responding to regulatory interrogatories regarding the filings;
– Performing profitability analyses to assess performance at the line of business and individual account level; and,
– Developing new products related to and performing underwriting and pricing audits, including personal lines pricing.

Skills Preferred:
Demonstrates proven thought leadership abilities and success with developing and sustaining relationships with senior client actuarial leaders and other stakeholders—i.e. claims and underwriting, as well as the following additional areas:
– Developing and maintaining technical pricing models for various lines of business, including leveraging Microsoft Excel, Access and related programming experience to do so.
– Serving as team leader–leading teams to generate a vision, to establish direction and motivate members, as well as create an atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, coach staff, to encourage improvement and innovation.
